Summary: TMT Factory aims to provide a personalized recommendation tool that brings city services closer to residents and tourists, by interconnecting service and content providers with locations and people. This tool focuses on providing ubiquitous access to services in a dynamic and changing environment, offering recommendations adapted to the user profiles and contexts. Interconnected service providers in a dynamic environment represent a highly complex scenario that Multi-Agent system design methodologies have been trying to address for a long time. The European project ALIVE presents a framework (based on a Model Driven Design approach) that tackles this issue adapting organisation and coordination techniques to service-oriented architectures. ALIVE provides support for “live” (highly dynamic) and open systems of services providing ease of maintenance by reorganising and adapting services.

Summary:This paper presents the general design of an architecture, based on software agents and oriented to the semantic Web, for the development and deployment of urban, ubiquitous services for citizens and tourist. The goal is to create a platform able to provide personalized services based on recommendation algorithms, and users’ location, profile and preferences. The motivating scenario behind the design and development of these services is one in which citizens and tourists use mobile devices to interoperate confidently with the surrounding environment.

Plataforma colaborativa de gestión de proyectos accesible para personas con diversidad funcional

En este artículo se presenta una plataforma de colaboración desarrollada para permitir a los socios de un gran consorcio de investigación gestionar un proyecto en que participan personas con diversidad funcional. La plataforma tiene que permitir, por ejemplo, el acceso a través de lectores de pantalla, aumentadores de letra, o sin teclado. En este artículo se analizan las plataformas de colaboración relevantes que ya existen en el mercado junto con sus limitaciones y se presenta la solución propuesta en el marco del proyecto para el desarrollo de una plataforma de gestión que cumpla todas las necesidades relacionadas con la diversidad funcional, mejorando de esta manera el estado del arte.

SOPAT - Service of personalized and accessible orientation for tourism

La falta de servicios automáticos y personalizados de información fácilmente accesibles para los turistas y ciudadanos cuándo éstos se encuentran en la vía pública, impacta negativamente en el sector turístico, ya que implica una disminución del uso de los servicios que ofrece la ciudad y del grado de satisfacción de los usuarios. El proyecto SOPAT ha desarrollado un servicio personalizado de información y guía de ciudad que facilita el acceso a la información de interés a todo tipo de turistas y ciudadanos utilizando como plataforma experimental un punto de información multimedia con servicios interactivos en la zona pública.

A research project, in the framework of the Spanish National Program of Technologies of Services of the Information Society, has been undertaken, whose object was the acquisition and application of new knowledge and techniques that can turn useful to contribute to considerably improve the domain of interactive television. The project, IntegraTV-4all, has been an effort towards a new television for all and to promote the access of people with special needs to the new technologies, with a development adapted and oriented to their possibilities and necessities, which includes both graphical and natural-language interfaces. This paper characterizes the general approach of the project and the artificial-intelligence techniques used, including a dialogue management for the natural-language interface and a virtual narrator in the domain of interactive systems of digital-entertainment consumption.

A project of industrial research, oriented to the investigation related to the “e-inclusion and e-attendance Strategic Action” of the Spanish National Program of Technologies of Services of the Information Society, is undertaken, whose object is the acquisition and application of new knowledge and techniques that can turn useful to contribute to considerably improve the services of interactive and personalized television. The project, IntegraTV-4all, is an effort towards a new television for all and to promote the access of people with disabilities to the new technologies, with a technological development adapted and oriented to their possibilities and necessities, which includes both graphical and natural-language, oral interfaces. This paper characterizes the general approach of the project, the effort about the design for all in the domain of interactive systems of digital-entertainment consumption, the development of multimodal interfaces and the dialogue management system. In the case of the natural-language interface, the interaction management is based upon an intentional processing dialogue model, named the “thread model”.

Magical Mirror: multimedia, interactive services in home automation

Several academic and industrial research groups are working to deploy home-automation systems and to improve their user interfaces. Based on user studies and prototype implementation, this paper presents the development of an innovating appliance that incorporates interactive services of leisure and information, offered through a high-quality user interface on the surface of a mirror. This appliance is thought to be both integrated in the programmable network of a home and used as an independent element. The prototype offers basic services, like interactive television, the presentation of personalized weather data, news and selections of musical tunes, and will incorporate some advanced functionalities, like an intelligent service of personal motivation and a reminder service.

TV finder: una aproximación semántica a la televisión interactiva

TV finder es un sistema de gestión, búsqueda y recomendación personalizada de oferta televisiva orientado primariamente a televidentes y secundariamente a usuarios de equipos PC con funcionalidad de media center. En TV finder se propone el desarrollo de una nueva generación de sistemas de recomendación, que incorpore como elementos innovadores: (1) un modelo del dominio con semántica completamente formal (creación y uso de una nueva ontología como sistema de representación del conocimiento); (2) nuevas técnicas de recomendación aplicadas a guías electrónicas de programación de televisión; (3) un motor de inferencia basado en lógica difusa (uso de descriptores típicos de la experiencia humana); (4) el uso de un sistema multi-agente, que incluye agentes especializados en ejecución autónoma de tareas.
