Manel Palau is the R+D Director at TMTFactory. He obtained a BSc degree in Telecommunications Engineering from the School of Telecommunications Engineering of Barcelona (ETSETB) in 2007, with a BSc thesis entitled “Physical Layer Simulation in wireless Networks using OMNeT++” completed at the Image and Signal Processing research laboratory of ENSEA, France; and a MSc degree in Artificial Intelligence organized by the Barcelona School of Informatics (FIB), with a MSc thesis entitled “Combining Coordination and Organisation Mechanisms for the Development of a Dynamic Context-aware Information System Personalised by means of Logic-based Preference Methods”. Currently, he is performing the Master in Project Management organized by La Salle International Graduate School of Ramon Llull University. His main research interests combine: personalized recommendation; usability; service-oriented architectures; Web services; ubiquitous computing; context-aware computing; multi-agent systems in dynamic environments; and the semantic Web. As a member of the research staff at TMTFactory, he collaborated in the SOPAT project and coordinated TMTFactory‘s efforts in the ALIVE European project and in the INREDIS project. Currently, he coordinates TMTFactory‘s efforts in the SemAnts project and in the ASKS project.

Manel Palau és el director de recerca i desenvolupament a TMTFactory. Llicenciat com enginyer superior en telecomunicacions per la ETSETB (UPC) el 2007 amb el projecte final de carrera titulat “ Simulació de la capa física en xarxes sense fils utilitzant OMNeT++” completat al laboratori d’investigació en processament d’imatge i senyal d’ENSEA, França. Manel ha realitzat el màster en Inteligencia Artificial organitzat per la FIB (UPC), amb la tesi “Combining Coordination and Organisation Mechanisms for the Development of a Dynamic Context-aware Information System Personalised by means of Logic-based Preference Methods”. Actualment realitza el Master de Direcció de Projectes (MPM) organitzat per La Salle (URL). Els seus principals interessos en la recerca combinen: recomanació personalitzada; usabilitat; arquitectures orientades a serveis; serveis web; computació ubiqua, context-aware computing; sistemes multiagent en entorns dinàmics; y la web semàntica. Com a membre del departament d’investigació a TMTFactory ha col·laborat en el projecte SOPAT i coordinat els esforços de TMTFactory en el projecte europeu ALIVE i en el projecte INREDIS. Actualment, coordina els esforços de TMTFactory en el projecte SemAnts i en el projecte ASKS.

Manel ha realizado el máster en Inteligencia Artificial organizado por la FIB (UPC), con la tesis “Combining Coordination and Organisation Mechanisms for the Development of a Dynamic Context-aware Information System Personalised by means of Logic-based Preference Methods”. Actualmente realiza el Master en Dirección de Proyectos organizado por La Salle (URL). Sus principales intereses en la investigación combinan: recomendación personalizada; usabilidad; arquitecturas orientadas a servicios; servicios web; computación ubicua, context-aware computing; sistemas multiagente en entornos dinámicos; y la web semántica. Como miembro del departamento de investigación en TMTFactory, ha colaborado en el proyecto SOPAT y coordinado los esfuerzos de TMTFactory en el proyecto europeo ALIVE y en el proyecto INREDIS.
